ARTIST: ED ARCILLA
8th SOLO EXHIBITION, 2022
ED Arcilla’s best break of all, in his illustrious career, is to have a solo exhibit at his alma mater, the University of the East. With gratitude to the UE Caloocan’s Chancellor, Zosimo M. Battad, his invitation to Ed was instrumental to hold it during the 76th Foundation Week of the university, this October and is still ongoing to date. Showcasing his exhibit, it is currently at the latest addition to the campus, the Chua King Ha Galleries, also known as the White Cube of Camanava. It is at the 5 th floor of the Tan Yan Kee Bldg. (TYK) of the College of Fine Arts.
May this pave the way to countless possibilities of alumni artists, architects and interior designers to share their love for art with their beloved school, its art community and the general public.
The College of Fine Arts has outgrown itself into a larger and bigger academic landscape in the College of Fine Arts Architecture and Design or CFAD. It has successfully claimed the demand of the times arising from the humble beginnings of its pioneer, the UE School of Music and Arts (UESMA) in Aurora Blvd., Manila, of which Ed was a proud Fine Arts graduate (BFA batch ’72).
This is a truly sweeter homecoming for Ed. As the President of the UE Fine Arts Alumni Association and Vice-President of the UEAAI, he shall be a Golden Jubilarian, together with his batch ’72 during the UE Alumni Homecoming celebration event on December 10, 2022, at the CFAD, UE Caloocan campus.
Looking back, to look confidently forward to our “new normal”, let us celebrate Art in our alma mater, the University of the East.
